The Golden Lion was established by Pier Tsui-Po in Melbourne, Australia in 1971. At that time he was one of the first few instructors in the West who dared to teach Kung Fu to non-Chinese.

Many of Pier's relatives were senior practicing members of Chinese martial arts and healing. The name Golden Lion was chosen in memory of this family legacy.

The family tradition continued in Australia with brothers Charles and Richard Tsui-Po completing their training and joining Pier to teach the rapidly increasing membership of Golden Lion. Steve Kiat emigrated to Australia in 1983 to further his training and join his uncles as a martial arts instructor.

In 1987 an international bi-lateral agreement was established between the Golden Lion and China's Tianjin Sports Institute. This provides facilities for exchange of students and instructors with the institute. Golden Lion students and instructors also regularly train with the world famous Beijing Wushu Institute, Beijing University of Physical Education and other eminent grand masters throughout the world.

Over the years, the Golden Lion Academy has trained many outstanding students in the discipline of martial arts and continues this tradition by offering a vast knowledge combined with excellent service and skilled instructors.

Through their success in many local, state, national and international competitions, together with their dedication to the martial and healing arts over many years, the Tsui-Po's have built the Golden Lion into one of the most respected martial arts and healing centres in Australia.

Today the Golden Lion Academy is internationally recognised for its continuing contributions, achievements and quality of service.
